Grants Selection Committee (GSC)

GL put out a call for a Grant Selection Committee (GSC) made up of independent SRHR experts with experience working within the SADC region.​

Criteria for serving on the Grants Selection Committee

Interested candidates should:

  • Be from Southern Africa or have a strong background in this region. Candidates from South Africa, Zimbabwe and Lesotho are encouraged to apply for the in-country selection of Opportunity Grants.
  • Have a proven track record of working on SRHR research, policy and advocacy issues.
  • Be persons of integrity, principle and standing, widely respected in their countries and communities.
  • If possible have a background in grants selection/ management would be an advantage
  • Include French and Portuguese speaking experts for adjudication of the Movement Building grants.
  • Be available, for those assessing the Opportunity grants in Lesotho, South Africa and Zimbabwe to undertake their task from 15-30 September 2022.
  • Be available for those assessing the SADC regional Movement Building Grants to undertake their task from 29 August 2022 to 5 September 2022 (concept notes) and 5-10 October (full application).
  • Be able to work virtually as all assessments will be done online.

Process

  • A decision will be communicated by Monday 22 August and a briefing held soon after.
  • GL is not in a position to assess exactly how much time will be required of each committee member as this will depend on the number of shortlisted applications. This information will however be communicates as soon as possible.
  • An honourarium will be offered to all those serving on the committee taking account of the time required.
  • All final decisions on awarding grants will be made by the GL Board at its meeting from 14-15 October 2022.
  • To apply please submit to Grants.finance@genderlinks.org.za. by Monday 15 August
  • Your CV, inclusive of at least two referees.
  • A cover note indicating your interest and availability to serve on either the Opportunity Grant, or Movement Building selection committees, or both and highlighting why you consider yourself to be an ideal candidate for this undertaking.
